The Sakura has evolved from a simple blossom to a timeless symbol embodying a variety of meanings but connects two seemingly contradicting views: Spirituality and War. While seemingly opposing, both of these views are intertwined with the idea of life and death. One cannot be peaceful unless they are capable of great violence and this peace is derived through ones spirituality and the Warrior's Way—a set of principles emphasizing the law of honor, obedience, duty, and self-sacrifice — or the Bushido Code. The Sakura's short bloom resonates deeply as one accepts their mortality and inevitability of death — Memento Mori.
